Joy Coleman is an architect and principal with TreanorHL. Focusing on historic preservation, she believes in the power of architecture to influence people and affect communities. She has dedicated her career to the preservation and reuse of the older iconic buildings in our cities and towns to inspire positive development and community connectivity.
She has worked on a wide variety of projects for public and private entities ranging from the restoration of a one-room school house to the phased design and restoration a state capitol. Early in her career, Joy worked for a large public construction management department. This experience provided her with a unique understanding of building and construction issues from the owner’s perspective. Now, she combines this understanding with her historic preservation experience to help owners preserve and rehabilitate their historic properties in a sustainable and affordable manner.
Beyond her project work, Joy has volunteered for several historic preservation, architectural and real estate organizations such as the Kansas Preservation Alliance, Missouri Preservation and CREW Kansas City.
