Amanda Burke is the Section 106 compliance reviewer for above ground resources at the Missouri State Historic Preservation Office. She received her Bachelors of Arts degree in Anthropology from Northwestern State University in Louisiana and a Masters of Fine Arts in Historic Preservation from Savannah Collage of Art and Design. She came to the SHPO office from the Mississippi Gulf Coast where she was the Historic Structures Field Team Coordinator for FEMA’s Hurricane Katrina recovery. In Mississippi she surveyed thousands of buildings, wrote determinations of eligibility, collaborated on National Register Nominations, and reviewed projects for Section 106 compliance. Since arriving in Missouri she worked briefly in the National Register program before transitioning to the 106 review team. Amanda’s understanding and knowledge of the built environment and the history of architecture has makes her a valuable addition to the SHPO team.
